This year we are not going to spend X-mas in the traditional way. Well, I've to confess, we nearly never do, especially this year, since we are going to travel to Venice Beach on Christmast Eve.
I like some of the traditions and when you have a child it's more interesting have them, although Mila is far too young to understand all that fuss... so I decided to build my own
photo - countdown calendar in to my blog.
I'm going to snap a photo every day until we leave.
Let's remember that I'm not educated photographer and just learning how to use my new camera.

PS It would be fun if you like to copy this idea and have your own christmast calendar in your blog! Make it by photos, thoughts, art&craft works or bakings, either way it would be fun to see. Maybe you've done that already?
you go girl!!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see it!!
ReplyDeleteyour work is beautiful! what type of lens are you using?
ReplyDeleteI wish we could buy a calendar of the pics that you have done of Mila. That would be an awesome gift :)
ReplyDeleteSo Smart! I'm totally going to do the same thing! Thanks for the idea. Of course my photos aren't as wonderful as yours are.

ReplyDeleteSuch a fun idea! Can't wait to see the rest of your christmas calendar :) I really like that picture and how the focus is on the camera.
ReplyDeleteSince you have your gorgeous little Mila I have to tell one simple tip how to give some christmas joy to baby: I have a six months old dother Mimosa and she has a christmas sock as a calendar. Every evening I put one of her toys into the sock, and every morning we check the sock together with my baby. This sounds simple but she really is excited when one of her toys comes from the sock (we do this VERY theatrically, of course ;D) Simple, cheap, fun and ecological :)
OH !
ReplyDeleteI always knew you would be beautiful. Miss your gorgeous baby girl sleeping pics xx Merry Christmas from snow bound England xx
wow that sounds like a great idea. See I like photography as well I'm not professional either and I'm looking into get me a new camera. What kind of camera are you using? you take very nice pictures.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. We have a food blog (3 Moms and a Kitchen) and I think we may do this too, only with food <3
ReplyDeleteYou are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteFun idea! I'm posting a Christmas book each day of December on my blog!
ReplyDeleteok so you're not only extremely creative , tasteful and a dédicated fun mummy but you are also a beautiful elegant woman ! bravo et merci madame :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so fun! I copied the idea so now I have a calendar of my own.
ReplyDeleteAnd most of all Thank You!!
ReplyDeleteWe are all ready & waiting.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a countdown calendar! And Venice Beach? How fun. But we all miss little Mila. How is the teething going? Still keeping Mom and Dad up?

ReplyDeletejydalton: I didn't even know, but I check that and my lens is Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM. But I took all those daydream photos with my old digital pocket cam: Canon Ixus 750.
Mitra: ;) Maybe some day...
merryroseberry : Wow, Christmas sock caledar sounds nice! It reminds me my old calendar when I was a kid. It was a Santa claus and my mommy made it from the fabric. Every day had own pocket in Santa's jacket and there was little surprises, like: tiny toys, stickers, candys, gingerbreads... I will definitely do my own version to Mila some day. :)
And hey Nuori Nainen and all the others who are going to make your own calendars: Great! Looking forward to see your Christmas Countdowns and whereof they are made.
I love this idea, especially because I've been slacking with my family blog here recently. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteoh what a wonderful idea. Might do it every day... but will try to 'write' a blog (as I'm trying to be a writer, rather than a photographer!).
ReplyDeletedoh! I mean I might not get to do it every day! But will try!
ReplyDeleteWe went to Florida (from UK) a month ago to see my dad, and had lunch at sharkey's on the pier on Venice Beach - it's awesome. Have a great Christmas!

ReplyDeleteI have a Freebie Advent Calendar on my blog. This is the third year that I have it. :) I show my readers free Cross stitch patterns, sewing patterns and maybe a giveaway or two before Christmas. It's in English here:needleandsomethread.blogspot.com and in Finnish here: neulajalankaa.blogspot.com

Great idea, I'm actually doing similar as this but instead but instead of a Christmas countdown we're doing photo of the day until I reach 30 and my baby will turn 1.
ReplyDeletegood luck and enjoy holiday :)
It is great fun... I've been taking (and posting) a picture a day since March. I only had hopes of doing it for one year, but plan to continue. I love the story-telling, capturing moments I would never think to capture otherwise.

Hello from America.
ReplyDeleteCan I ask what camera and lens you are using in this picture.
I am just starting out as a portrait photographer, have a look at my site and tell me what you think.

How can you say you're not an educated Photographer? Shure you are one, actually you are a true artist, because "Mila's Daydreams" are awesome. Maybe you mean that you're not an "Educated Camera Operator" ant that's OK, camera is the least important thing, think of it this way: The pictures you've made would look equally great if were shoot with a pocket camera or a Nikon D3X.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, they are GREAT!!
