I'm just a Daydreamer...

Daydream-land is still missing Mila, who is more anxious to chew toys with her brand new pearl teeths than sleep, but that's not the reason why this blog is changing.

I love you people,

When I started this blog I didn't expect this to happen. This was my funny little hobby with my constantly sleeping newborn and this blog was for my family and friends, especially for those who lived in long distance.

One night, literally one night, this blog was all over the world web news. Now in few months almost 3 million visitors have seen my little blog and I have received so beautiful, heart warming and touching e-mails and comments from daydream-fans, mothers & fathers all over the world. Thank you. I still can't reply to all of your e-mails and comments, but we try to read all. (And I've long list for my this year special christmas e-card)

...well, there are people who ain't that lovable...

Everything hasn't been a pure bliss, because I have found so many copyright violations and the last drop was that point when I found my own baby animated in banner ads.

As an advertising professional I have to ask from designers: if you don't have a brain, don't you have at least some heart?

I really really hope that none of the parents have to find their own child pictures used without their permission. Maybe I'm just a daydreamer myself when I've been in a good faith with people in the internet. I love how people can connect through it. I've found help, friends and maybe real future friends too from it. But of course there's also bad guys here, like in the real world too.

Help me to protect my photos

Keep e-mailing me if you suspect that some one is using my photos without my permission.
I will do everything to protect my child pictures as I protecting my child too. I can tell you right away that there is never ever going to be "Mila's Daydreams" -advertising campaigns for any kind of products or baby brands. Advertising agencies all over the world have been asking these pictures and I've said no to all requests. So if you find ads, sponsor calendars, competitions, banners what so ever with my pics, it is copyright infringement. Just let me know and of course boycott that kind of advertisers. If they can cheat a photographing mother, they sure will cheat their customers too.

Here's thumbnails of Mila's Daydream pictures. All pictures Copyright ©Adele Enersen 2010

If private person has blogged about my photos before and used couple (1-4) of pictures (with my watermarks) to illustrate that with copyright marks and link back to my blog, that's ok. Of course it would be nice to remove those too, but at least, don't re-publish and spread them anymore. Please.

Then there are all those people who have uploaded more than 10 or all content of my blog photos to their own galleries, blogs or webpages. Some have even removed my copyright mark or put their own in there, claiming that they have rights for my photos. That's another serious copyright infringement. They should be removed immediately or otherwise I will take all the necessary legal actions.

Report misusage or contact me trough e-mail from my blogger profile.

There will still be more Daydreams

So, no more Mila's Daydream pictures in the blog. I wanted to keep that first one there, because it means everything to me. The flowers she is picking are from that bouquet I got in hospital after giving birth. Well, I knew this was going to end some day anyway. I will continue taking photos every now and then, while Mila is still a baby, but this time I won't publish them at my blog, just to avoid misusage and violation. But this ain't the end of this blog either. I still want to be in touch with you people and share something from my maternity leave with you. So maybe this blog is going to be more like "While my baby is taking her nap, I try to blog about something." And sure there's going to be some creative things in the future too, let's see what we can come up. Maybe Mila is going to take pictures of me, or maybe I'll write some haiku's about her first words, or maybe there's going to be some other creative outbursts from my not-so-desperate housewife life. Mila is a great muse for sure.

Mila doing her favourite thing

The Good News:  The Book!

So many of you lovely human beings have been asking me to make a book of Daydreams. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I believe you people have made my deepest dreams come true, because I'm happy to tell you that my first daydream-illustrated book is going to be published in all the english speaking countries in 2012 by Balzer+Bray. The working title is: "When My Baby Dreams". There is always a story behind these pictures I've been taking and I'm more a storyteller than a photographer. I would be so happy if people would read these books to their kids as a bedtime or naptime stories and kids could see nice dreams when they sleep. In the future I will definitely tell more book news in the blog. Yay!

Never forget, everything is possible in the dreams. Keep daydreaming!

With Love,
Adele&Mila

  3. How terrible about the copyright infringements! I will miss your daydream photos very much; I looked forward to them every day, and forwarded the link to your blog to my step-daughter when she was pregnant. Good luck with your new direction, and I can hardly wait until I can buy a copy of your book!

  4. It makes me very sad that you let them win by taking everything down and not posting new pictures.

  6. Just another supporting message. It is so hard to share pictures with more than a handful of people and keep them safe from abuse :( Good luck and thank you for sharing Mila's daydreams with us.

  7. I'm extremely sad today. Your baby photos made me smile EVERY SINGLE DAY. Looking forward to the book, but it's not the same as getting a new smile each day. Blessings to you and your family.

  8. Your photos have been an inspiration to me. It has changed the way I play with her, take pictures of her, and unleashed a new wonderment for the person she is growing into. I eagerly await your book.

I hope you continue your creative journey together!

Fie on those exploiters - they'll get theirs, they always do.

  10. Making a book is a GREAT idea! I can't wait to see it. I am sad not to see the beautiful photos on the blog, but completely understand. I unfortunately, have had my photos stolen at times too, as well as ideas. It is not fun! Good luck with your book.

  11. Sorry to hear about the jerks who did all that, it's such a shame! But a book, that is so exciting!

Also, I think someone might have mentioned this already but people can still view and save your photos under google reader... though I'm not sure how that can be fixed.

  12. Understandable but soo sad. Please keep us posted on the book! I was hoping you'd do one so that we would have a tangible copy of all these delightful pictures.

  15. There is a site called www.tineye.com that scans the internet for images (it can even detect when images are altered) - that may help you pin down some locations of photos. Good luck, and thanks for sharing! xo!

  16. That is such a shame stuff like that still happens. I LOVE your blog and it has inspired me to photograph my baby in scenes to make a calendar for Christmas gifts. My daughter is not sleeping in the photos, but I have enjoyed seeing all the lovely things you do. Thank you for the inspiration! I think a book is a lovely idea :)

  17. oh and I think our babies are close to the same age!! My little miss is 5 months

  18. I'm sorry to hear about the copyright infringements. Very disappointing that a few lazy, dishonest designers can ruin such a beautiful blog. Have you considered continuing your creative scenes with a baby whose parents are ok with it modeling? In other words, find a willing model (i'm sure there are many people out there who would love to fill in for Mila) and have the parents sign a model release. You could be the next Anne Geddes!

  36. I've thoroughly enjoyed Mila's Daydreams. I'm sorry you've found your personal, professional and copy rights violated like this.

For the record, I read you through your blog's RSS feed, where all the old posts can still be seen. Not sure what you'd do about that, but thought you might want to know.

  38. Oh goodness! I came across your blog very recently and linked it to mine..and the next time I visit, its to the news about the copyright issues you are facing :( Very sorry to hear it! Its totally shameless, and I will sure let you know in case I come across these. Meanwhile, perhaps you should indicate on your blog, those sites which have indeed copied the images.Unfortunately copying on the net is so easy and people think they can get away with the anonymity of the net. So spreading the word against such persons/sites would help. A few other friends have had similar problems with people copying images without permission.
Very sad to see your imaginative images go off air :( but wish you the very best. And hopefully we get to see more in your future endeavours.

  39. I loved to read about the good news, but I dislike the bad news! I should have done the same, when people used my pictures in that way. I will let you know if I see a picture of you used somewhere.
But thanks a lot for sharing these cute, lovely and creative pictures with us. It always made my day a sunny day.
I am looking forward to your book!
Have a lot of fun and happy moments with Mila.

  40. Loved all of the daydreams...but as a skeptic, I must admit that I feared this day would come as well. This world is full of ignorant people, and I'm sorry You and Mila had to fall prey to that. Looking forward to the book - as a father of two young ones and as a photographer, it will find a place on my bookshelf.

  45. Very understandable, our kids come first and though your pictures are remarkable, they are yours to do what you want with them, not anyone else! That being said, the collage you have up there would make a great quilt!

  46. Adele,

The first Mila Daydream picture that I saw was the Elephant Rider-- my husband sent me the link because I love elephants and we have been married for a little over a year and are talking about babies almost on daily basis. I LOVED it! Since then I kept checking every day for new pictures and without an exception every single one made my day, made me smile, brought me to tears (in a good way, like the Pippy Longstocking picture, a tribute to my favorite childhood book), or sent me into incontrollable giggles. Thank YOU for all of those!

I am so so sorry to hear that people were taking advantage of something so beautiful, but know that thousands of people sat in front of their computers every day, eager to see where your imagination has taken Mila today.

Thank you for a wonderful adventure, and I can't wait for the book to come out!

  55. As the mom of 3, I can't tell you how often your images made me smile. My kids are older now but I remember fondly the days they were as sweet and "pliable" as Mila. I'm so sorry that people had to go and be so disrespectful to your family and with your work. It just ruins it for everyone.
I hope that we will hear more from you in the future. In the meantime, keep enjoying that beautiful little girl.

  56. Those of us who respected your rights and loved the pictures will miss watching her grow, and the peeks into her daydreams.

And let me just say, your baby is simply precious!

I want to say how shocked I am that someone would steal your images and use them for their own gain. But sadly we live in that kind of world. And I am not so shocked. But I will keep my eyes peeled for illegal use of your images and will look forward to the book!

I wish you all the best and thank you for sharing your beautiful photography and little Mila with us. Even if it was only for a little while.

  91. Well that's just a kick in the face... on your side of things. From a stay home dad's point of view I must say that you did a great job putting a creative twist on documenting Mila's first stages of life and must say WELL DONE! I truly enjoyed watching you post new images while wondering what you'd "dream up" next. From a photographer's point of view, the copyright infringements are ridiculous and I hope you get it sorted out. Just mind boggles me the audacity of people sometimes. They can claim ignorance but when it comes down to it they are just liars and cheats... hope that wasn't too terribly harsh. Anyhoo, I wish you the best and hope Mila has many more sweet dreams to come.

    All The Best!

  94. How disappointing that people would steal your lovely photos! I'm so sorry to hear that. I have been enjoying Mila's Daydreams for a couple of months now, and will certainly miss your photos, but I am SO GLAD you are protecting your art and protecting your daughter.

Congratulations on the book! That's wonderful news! I will definitely be looking for it in the coming months. :)

I am so sorry and sad that this blog has to be closed.. but I am on the first line to buy your book! I really hope that I can find the book in book stores in Indonesia, or at least I hope I can buy it online!

Many hugs for you and your lovely Mila, best wishes :)

Thank you for your pictures. They make me want to do something like it for our Christmas card.
Love to you 2 from all of us.

  101. I am so sad - I looked forward to each post of Mila in her dream world. Now I wish I had printed off the pictures, because every time I looked at them I smiled. I totally understand why you are stopping, but I will really miss her pictures. I have a granddaughter the same age as Mila and I would love to buy her a book will these illustrations. Thanks for that!

  103. I am going to miss your daydream pictures. They made me smile EVERY time! I'm sorry that the greedy, dishonest people had to ruin it for you, but I completely understand your decision. I'm thrilled that you are making a book. I've been hoping for a book or calendar ever since I discovered your blog! Take care, and keep enjoying Mila and taking beautiful photos of her. Babyhood goes by way too fast. You will love looking back on those pictures!

  109. So sad to see these wonderful images go away - I so looked forward to each new treat!
But, unfortunately, this happens all the time. I once found my art (donated to a California nonprofit) on a restaurant awning (and menu, logos) in Vietnam.... Very disheartening. I'll be looking for the book.

    THANK YOU!

I'll be sad to see your wonderfully creative photo's go but I completely understand why your no longer posting them to the blog. 113. I am sad you had to make this decision, and my little Noa (she is 2 and a half) will also be sad, as she always asks to see Mila dreams when I'm on the computer. We'll anxiously await the book, and hope to see all those lovely photos again (and new ones!)someday.

  114. In America, workers only get 3 months of maternity leave (or less, and usually not paid). I went back to work in April when my son was 12 weeks old.

I had put your blog in my RSS feed reader, and every time I'd see you post a new daydream, it would make me smile. I love your creativity, but most of all, I love watching a woman getting a chance to enjoy her baby at home. It makes me sad to think that no more photos will be posted, but I understand why. There is no excuse for thieves to steal your work, and I hate that there are so many horrible people in the world.

    ReplyDelete
  115. So happy a book will come of all this! Such a shame about the copyright infringement- I think with all your fans on the lookout we'll root out the bad guys! Luckily there are way more good guys than bad guys in the world. I'm inspired by what you've done in these first months of Mila's life... what a whirlwind! My baby is also Miela- same age, same size- and it's been a real delight watching your Mila daydream along with my own. Thank you for your artistic vision and whimsical sensibility! And all those lovely fabrics you use... WOW! Looking forward to the book... Good luck, mama! :)

  118. You are doing what is best as a parent, as a mother - to protect your child in every way; and to protect what you have created. Thanks you so much, though, for sharing MIla's daydreams...for me it came at a perfect time: I too am a new mother (of a boy recently turned 1). The pictures brought sooooo much happiness. Thank you! And, also yippie on your book! Can't wait for it to come out! Wishing you the best..I'll still be checking your blog... :)

  119. I agree with a previous commenter that the Kindle ad's did remind me a lot of your photos. I guess being an inspiration to others is a lovely compliment, but outright theft is an entirely different matter. Adele, your daughter is beautiful, your photos were enchanting and your mother's protective instincts entirely understandable. I have loved seeing your little girl lost in her dreams, and will especially miss seeing those little green socks popping up in the photos! All the very best for the future and will look out for your book x

  122. My wife really loves your pictures, and was inspired to make her own with our daughter Natasha. She was really sad yesterday when she brought me the news about your work being stolen, and your decision to take down the pictures. I fully understand though - it must be frustrating to see people stealing and making money off your work.

I noticed how you put a rather discreet copyright notice in the corner of the pictures - easily removable by cropping them just a bit. How about a big fat embossed watermark right across the picture? We'll enjoy it just as much, and it will make life a little more annoying for those looking to steal them. Just a thought :)

Good luck with the book project - the whole idea is awesome, and I'm sure it will be a huge success :-)

    Cheers from Denmark,
    HC

  131. I'm so sad that you're not continuing with the blog photos, our little guys are about the same age and I have SO enjoyed your inspiration.

Sadly copyright infringement is something every online creative person has to deal with, and when it comes to your own children, it's just not acceptable.

You've created a beautiful set of images I'm sure your daughter will greatly enjoy for many years to come.

Best of health, love and laughter to you and Mila. We'll miss your photos, but can't wait for the book!

  137. Åååååh!!! First, so happy to find a new log, but the happyness soon turned from angry into tears. WTF!!? I can't believe the uglyness in peoples hearts... stealing your baby (and as one of still very few people in the western world not yet downloading music/films I find what happened to you and your family desperately sad, how can someone just take your pictures and use them as their own?!), and your wonderful ideas?

I'm glad to hear you will not stop writing on your blog - perhaps you can still give us some new pictures of Mila's sleeping stuffed animals! ;) I will return!

All the best I wish to you, your husband and your beautiful daughter. I hope you can get something good out of what has happened, better wages from work for instance? ;p

  189. I am new to your blog and I have been awed by your creativity. I am the mother of a young child and understand the need to protect your daughter. I am saddened that anyone would even put you into this position. I look forward to the book!!

  190. Some people dream of becoming stars; Mila became a star while she was dreaming. May the rest of her journey--and yours--be as beautiful and surprising as the tapestry you've woven while she slept.

Thank you for sharing a little piece of your world with us.

    Blessings,
    Julianne and Rhiannon (age 6)

  191. Voy a extrañar mucho tus fotos, pero entiendo por que has tomado esta decisión. Proteger a nuestros hijos debe ser siempre nuestra primera prioridad.

So, being so so far away from you two, i wonder if it's any chance to get your book, because i'd really laki to buy one copy...

Congratulations on your beautiful photos, your great Mila, and your desicions...

Hope you could answer me whenever you have time.

  194. Oh no! I came for my daily smile and found disappointment :(
This was my daughter's and my favorite thing to do (She is three). She loved looking at baby Mila sleeping and pointing out stuff in the pictures.
I am so heartbroken right now.
I can't wait to see your book next year. Hannah will be so sad till then :(

  196. I didn't read all 400 comments, so maybe someone has mentioned this to you. I just found out this site: http://www.tineye.com/ where you can submit your photo and see where you can find it on the net. maybe this could track some of your photographs being used by other people.

And of course, I have to say it as well, I'll miss your cute Mila and all those creativity!

  197. My granddaughter and I enjoyed Mila's dream theme every day. We will be sad to see it go, but are so happy to hear it will be published in book form. I will be purchasing copies for myself and my friends. It was such a happy place to visit, but totally understand your taking it down. What a shame that few ruin something so many enjoy.
Best wishes to you and your family. Keep us posted on the book!
