I'm just a Daydreamer...

Daydream-land is still missing Mila, who is more anxious to chew toys with her brand new pearl teeths than sleep, but that's not the reason why this blog is changing.

I love you people,

When I started this blog I didn't expect this to happen. This was my funny little hobby with my constantly sleeping newborn and this blog was for my family and friends, especially for those who lived in long distance.

One night, literally one night, this blog was all over the world web news. Now in few months almost 3 million visitors have seen my little blog and I have received so beautiful, heart warming and touching e-mails and comments from daydream-fans, mothers & fathers all over the world. Thank you. I still can't reply to all of your e-mails and comments, but we try to read all. (And I've long list for my this year special christmas e-card)

...well, there are people who ain't that lovable...

Everything hasn't been a pure bliss, because I have found so many copyright violations and the last drop was that point when I found my own baby animated in banner ads.

As an advertising professional I have to ask from designers: if you don't have a brain, don't you have at least some heart?

I really really hope that none of the parents have to find their own child pictures used without their permission. Maybe I'm just a daydreamer myself when I've been in a good faith with people in the internet. I love how people can connect through it. I've found help, friends and maybe real future friends too from it. But of course there's also bad guys here, like in the real world too.

Help me to protect my photos

Keep e-mailing me if you suspect that some one is using my photos without my permission.
I will do everything to protect my child pictures as I protecting my child too. I can tell you right away that there is never ever going to be "Mila's Daydreams" -advertising campaigns for any kind of products or baby brands. Advertising agencies all over the world have been asking these pictures and I've said no to all requests. So if you find ads, sponsor calendars, competitions, banners what so ever with my pics, it is copyright infringement. Just let me know and of course boycott that kind of advertisers. If they can cheat a photographing mother, they sure will cheat their customers too.

Here's thumbnails of Mila's Daydream pictures. All pictures Copyright ©Adele Enersen 2010

If private person has blogged about my photos before and used couple (1-4) of pictures (with my watermarks) to illustrate that with copyright marks and link back to my blog, that's ok. Of course it would be nice to remove those too, but at least, don't re-publish and spread them anymore. Please.

Then there are all those people who have uploaded more than 10 or all content of my blog photos to their own galleries, blogs or webpages. Some have even removed my copyright mark or put their own in there, claiming that they have rights for my photos. That's another serious copyright infringement. They should be removed immediately or otherwise I will take all the necessary legal actions.

Report misusage or contact me trough e-mail from my blogger profile.

There will still be more Daydreams

So, no more Mila's Daydream pictures in the blog. I wanted to keep that first one there, because it means everything to me. The flowers she is picking are from that bouquet I got in hospital after giving birth. Well, I knew this was going to end some day anyway. I will continue taking photos every now and then, while Mila is still a baby, but this time I won't publish them at my blog, just to avoid misusage and violation. But this ain't the end of this blog either. I still want to be in touch with you people and share something from my maternity leave with you. So maybe this blog is going to be more like "While my baby is taking her nap, I try to blog about something." And sure there's going to be some creative things in the future too, let's see what we can come up. Maybe Mila is going to take pictures of me, or maybe I'll write some haiku's about her first words, or maybe there's going to be some other creative outbursts from my not-so-desperate housewife life. Mila is a great muse for sure.

Mila doing her favourite thing

The Good News:  The Book!

So many of you lovely human beings have been asking me to make a book of Daydreams. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I believe you people have made my deepest dreams come true, because I'm happy to tell you that my first daydream-illustrated book is going to be published in all the english speaking countries in 2012 by Balzer+Bray. The working title is: "When My Baby Dreams". There is always a story behind these pictures I've been taking and I'm more a storyteller than a photographer. I would be so happy if people would read these books to their kids as a bedtime or naptime stories and kids could see nice dreams when they sleep. In the future I will definitely tell more book news in the blog. Yay!

Never forget, everything is possible in the dreams. Keep daydreaming!

With Love,
Adele&Mila

  7. Can't wait for the book. So sorry that the actions of a few inconsiderate people have forced you to do this. I love your work and your amazing creativity. The love that you have for your daughter always shines through in your pictures.
She's gorgeous, and as a first-time Mum myself (of a wee girl who is not quite as good a sleeper as Mila! - yawn!) I really love seeing all the new things you come up with.
All the best for your future.

  8. I very sorry this have happened to you. This is the exact reason why I don't put pics of my baby on the web (well this and the fear of pedophilia). I cheer your creativity and courage and wish you good luck with the book (I'll be definitely buying it to my kid).
I'll be missing to see Mila's pictures....

  31. Oh, I'm so sad... And also a little angry because I thought this things happened only in Spain (we, shameless people) but I see that this bad habit of stealing another people's work on the internet is widely extended throughout the whole world.

If I see you work anywhere, published without your permission, you can be sure that I'll write to you telling you where and who.

Anyhow, I'll keep visiting this blog, because everything I've seen here has fullfill me with peace, sweetness and made me smile.

And... Congratulations for your book !!!! Tell us when it comes to light, we'll try to buy it at amazon even if our language is not english (and talking about that, I hope I didn't write anything bad, english es not my language and sometimes it gets hard to write about feelings so that english sponken people can understand).

Best regards and kisses, for you and also for Mila.

  33. My best advice is to restrict the blog access with a username and password and give it only to your family and friends...that's what I've done with mine anyway, after I started receiving unpleasant comments from strangers.

  42. Thank you for such a beautiful glimpse into Mila's Daydreams - your photos always put a smile on my face...and even a tear in my eye. You have a gorgeous wee girl and it is just so sad that there are such greedy, horrible people in this world who would exploit the innocence of a baby (and her mother) to promote themselves and their products.
My children & I will miss your delightful story and we will be lining up for the book for sure!
You are a very special mama

  45. I am so sorry to hear this has happened. Your pictures have brought such joy to so many people - my girls aged 10 and 12 love them. What you did was beautiful and worthwhile and worth the risk. 46. I can't believe this. How bullsh*it is that someone dares to take your pics without permission? I will do my best to keep my eyes open and if someone gets caught...I will certainly remind the person about copyrights and about the cold fact, that Santa will not bring any presents to naughty people. And if one has been really, really naughty, Santa will propably "recall" last year's presents also ;)

Hugs to you honeys and yes, can't wait the book ♥

  47. It is such a shame that you have been put in this position but I totally understand why you have to act in this way to protect your beautiful daughter. I was only a latecomer to Mila's daydreams but having had my first child, my own beautiful daughter, three months ago I have loved following Mila's latest daydreams. I am looking forward to your book in 2012 and I am sure Mila will love to look back on her daydreams in years to come.

You have inspired my creativity... inspired people to see the world another way... to take a look at the little things and wonder what's beyond.

Enjoy your wonderful maternity leave... you'll find Mila won't stay young for very long... but you'll have such beautiful treasures to remember the wonderful moments of her childhood... your time with her. I took photograph after photograph of my baby when she was born... and shockingly she graduated from High School this year (though I suppose, I whould have been more shocked had she not!)

Enjoy each moment my friend. I'm thinking of you and your journey... as all mom's out there know just how wonderful it is... so full of daydreams.

Oh wait - I see you said that's okay - but I'm going to ask anyway. I'm a graphic designer - so I absolutely hear what you're saying about copyright infringement - it's terrible, and if I see anyone claiming your unique work as their own - you can bet I would let you know asap. 78. Dear Adele,

Firstly, I would like to sincerely thank you for sharing all these beautiful but also personal moments of your motherhood, with us. You have an amazing talent, a charisma, as we say here in Greece, which has brought many people of all ages and places a little bit closer. You've also inspired many of us. So, thank you for everything.

Later on, I'm deeply sorry for the outcome of your movement, but also understand that you only want to protect your little princess. Even though I will miss your imaginative photographs and the way they made me smile, the purity of your efforts comes first. I trust that we are all going to support you no matter what you decide to do and keep visiting your blog.

Lastly, you can't imagine how glad me and me mother both are, that you are going to publish a book! I hope it will someday come here, in Greece, as well, because we would love something like this.

I apologize for the big answer, but being one of these silent - observers of your work, I feel like I need to thank you appropriately!

Take care of your precious Mila and continue being such an amazing mother!

    Love, Christianna.

I am sad that this has come to an end. Boo for those unscrupulous people for stealing your work...

I look forward to getting your book, so that I may read it to my son and daughter. Also looking forward to what's coming new on your blog. Blessing!!!

I'm saddened that people have taken advantage of your amazing work and I totally understand your need to protect the images, both to protect your beautiful little girl and to protect your copyright. While I'll miss seeing more of your amazing creative pictures I can see that you're doing the right thing.

I'll certainly still be reading and look forward to seeing what other directions your creativity will take this blog. And I'm very happy to hear that you're putting together a book and will be eagerly awaiting its release.

I'll be looking forward for the book and hope it will be sold on-line too, so I can buy it from Portugal, where I live.
Wish you and your family the best of lucks and I don't have to hope the book will be a success... because I'm sure it will be!

  93. SUCH a shame that you've had to stop posting these photos, they were always a wonderful pick me up when I was at work missing my little boy - they always made me smile.

I really hope you carry on blogging, I would miss you if you didn't!

  94. Like everyone, I love your blog. From the time I first came across it through Blogger's Blog of Note, each of your posts brought a smile on my face. It is indeed sad that I won't be able to see more of Mila's day dreams. :( At the same time I will be waiting to read what you will put next. :)

  101. Dear Adele!

You are TOTALLY right! Unfortunately there are people that don´t respect other people! It´s SO sad! You MUST protect Mila in all aspects! I support you and your words!!! Regards from Brazil!

  102. Unfortunately any artist that puts their work on the net, is going to get their work stolen. I've been an artist for over 20 years (Digitally) and it happens to me all the time. So what I ended up doing was putting huge watermarks across my work. You can just drop the opacity on it and they can't "remove" it. Yes it's distracting, but if you can find the right opacity balance and design, it will not take away from your work.

I'm sad to see this series end. :) But I also have a 9 month old and know that they don't sleep that much anymore.

    Good luck to you Mama!

    ReplyDelete
  105. "Oh nooo!" was my first thought when I realized that you had removed all of the photos. But then "Yay!!!" when I read that you're gonna publish a book with all of the pictures. I'm so looking forward to 2012 :).

Adele, you're a great, protective mother, and your decision to remove the photos was totally right. It's just sad that you had to. Some people are just... *sigh* I don't even have words for that. But it's got no use if we fret about it. All you can do is take legal action. I wish you all the best and the strength to hang on. Remember: You've got a thankful and supportive fanbase, and that's what those people NEVER will have :).

THANK YOU VERY MUCH for putting a smile on my face with each and every single picture, even if my day was crap.

I will miss seeing the photos; but, I totally understand. Your child comes first. ALWAYS.

  163. I'm so sorry to hear about this! I'll miss seeing the amazing photos, your daughter is such a cutie and you are an amazing artist. I also will definitely be looking for and buying the book when it comes out. If you should decide to continue to photoblog, look into a private invite-only format which should give you more control. I am expecting twins, and lots of parents of multiples (especially higher order multiples) have private blogs so that people don't misuse photos of their kids since many people are fascinated by quads, quints, etc. No matter what you do, I wish you the best of luck and thanks again for the lovely images!

  193. Well, as one who found you early on, I shall miss you. I blogged about you and certainly people fell in love with Mila's dreams. I wish you well and look forward to her return.

  194. As a photographer, I completely understand your decision. It's downright vicious what some people will do to steal an image.

I can't wait for your book, and I hope you continue photographing Mila's daydreams and maybe come out with a whole series! :)

  195. I feel as though I've lost a friend. But, having said that, I totally understand your frustration and your choice!
It just takes a few idiots to ruin a good thing!
Wishing you and your family the best - and looking forward to book!! :)
    Hugs,
